Before moving to Sandpoint, Bill Berg practiced law in Seattle. He was a trial and appellate lawyer for King County. After moving to Sandpoint in 2001, Bill opened a private practice, emphasizing estate planning, real estate, and business law.

In 2006, Bill invited Toby McLaughlin to join him in the practice. They formed the present firm, Berg & McLaughlin, Chtd. Together, Bill and Toby provide a broad range of legal services, including litigation.

A graduate of the University of Oregon, Bill has a B.S. in Journalism and Master's degree in Broadcast Communication. He graduated from Seattle University School of Law where he served on the law review.

Before entering the legal field, Bill worked for 20 years in broadcast news, including 10 years as a reporter and news manager for KING-TV in Seattle. He is the founder and current president of the Panhandle Alliance for Education, Inc., a foundation that has worked in conjunction with Coldwater Creek to raise over a million dollars for local public schools. He is also the Vice-Chair of the Bonner Economic Development Corporation.

Bill lives in Sagle, Idaho, near Gamlin Lake. He’s married to Mindy Cameron, the former editorial page editor of the Seattle Times. Now retired, Mindy is a trustee of the Lake Pend Oreille School District and serves on the Board of the Inland Northwest Community Foundation, Idaho Humanities Council, and Pacific University. They have three grown children, four grandsons, one dog, a horse and a bunch of chickens.
